The site at Samlesbury is based at the Canberra Club, Whalley New Road, Balderstone, BB2 7LF. We are fortunate to have an ample sized field with good car parking for our fleet of buses here. The field has suffered over the years Playscheme has been here and following some devastating floods during the Playscheme week over previous years we took the decision in 2011 to install drainage in the field. A large number of Playscheme volunteers gave up their Easter break and dug up most of the field to install drainage to help ensure the field could cope with Playscheme despite the weather in future years.
Being the first Playscheme the setup of the Playscheme site is spread over the preceding week but is no less strenuous for the handful of staff tasked with this role. Again we have masses of marquees, caravans, cabling and equipment to distribute and set up.
We are very fortunate that all of our resources and equipment are stored at Samlesbury with the generous consent of the Canberra Club – without this storage we would really struggle to survive!
